In my last blog I gave young recruits a few simple ways to keep safe online and you can read it at https://www.dogchesterpd.com/blog . What can you do though if things don’t go to plan and go wrong. 1. Talk to someone you can trust like an adult if not your parents, someone who you feel comfortable talking to. You can ring Childline and speak to a child counsellor. 2. If you are experiencing bullying or abuse, then you can report it directly to the website or app you are using. 3. Delete things you have shared that you may be worried or concerned about or find a way to hide them. 4. If someone tries to threaten or even blackmail you (by threatening to reveal on the internet personal information you have shared with them, then tell the Police or CEOP. CEOP have a website at https://www.ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/ , they have experienced child protection advisors you can help - you. Don’t give in to threats, get help. 5. Lastly plan for the future to make it doesn’t happen again and make sure to change your privacy settings to protect yourself . That’s all for now Till the next time BE GOOD and KEEP SAFE.
